Can you Talk the Talk?

Learners across years 7 and 8 were given a chance to boost their public-speaking skills and their confidence through some specialised workshops at the school.
Many of our learners struggle to stand in front of a group – even a small group of familiar faces – and speak to them about their learning, their interests or their opinions. Our school has been in touch with an organisation who specialise in developing learners’ confidence and encouraging them to speak about subjects they are familiar with. Talk the Talk delivered a series of sessions to our learners aimed at nurturing these skills and gave them a range of challenges and games to take part in, all with the focus of generating better public-speaking skills. Now that all English qualifications require a degree of speaking and listening skills, it’s hoped that we can make these events a regular occurrence and continue to improve our learners’ communication skills.
