Oobleck!

As part of our end of term summative work in Science the learners of the Acorn House have completed some experiments. One being Oobleck! Oobleck is a great experiment to recap on States of Matter. Learners were able to experiment to see when oobleck is at rest, the high surface tension of water causes water droplets to surround the starch granules.

Water acts as a liquid cushion or lubricant, allowing the grains to flow freely. The sudden force pushes the water out of the suspension and jams the starch grains against each other. The learners loved doing this messy experiment!
